Product formulator Mike Kim discusses his New Years Resolution and plans for 2020

It’s that time of the year of reflection. The year is coming to an end and 2020 is soon upon us. I don’t think I write things like this very often because most of the time its just a new day and new numbers I gotta get used to signing at the end of signatures. This process takes about a month to process and then becomes habit. Is it 19 or 20, or what? Lol.

However, the past couple of days because of Christmas, family, friends, and especially the kids I had to take the time to reflect on what 2019 has meant to me personally and what I want to do in 2020. We almost give ourselves a clean slate when the clock strikes midnight on 2020. Do you find yourself making up the same resolutions every single year? I find myself doing something similar. It’s an easy way to find myself there. Everyone is doing it. This year I did something different and I plan to start the new off a little differently. Let me share with you some of these things.

This year I started to run. I absolutely hate running. I mean I just hate it. IT’s not part of my genetic make up. My body was not made to run. I can squat. I can deadlift. But tell me to run and I would rather keel over and fake injury. But sometime in early November I told myself I would start running every single morning. We were going to do some form of movement for 3 miles. It took almost an hour the first day. It’s down to a little more than a half hour but it took almost 45 straight days of training. It sucked but you know what, I told my body and my brain we were gonna do it.

This upcoming year my goal is to get to bed earlier. It’s hard with kids and wanting some time to unwind after a long day at work but I would rather get up early and have the ability to start the day off right my way. This may be with a run, a morning time of meditation, prayer, journaling, whatever. But I told myself that the mornings were going to be time for me to start the day off on the right foot. Positive. This changes the entire landscape for the day. I’ve done this intermittently and it has done wonders for my day.

Lastly, I’m going to be doing a lot more positive in my thinking. What you think, you will become. It’s the way it is. DON’T STEP ON THE LINE! You step on it. DON’T HIT THAT! DOH! You hit it. Be positive and the energy flowing from you to others will be tangible and radiant. Let’s the small things just roll off of you and share the positive attitude with those all around you. This is a key component to success. It’s a key component to having a successful day, month, and year. This is not to say that the negative things won’t affect you, but you can allow how much that negative nature affects you. This also takes some mental training. Don’t let your mind control you, you can control your mind. Positivity for 2020!
